All the gaming laptops have disappeared from the US Razer store, with the site only listing laptop accessories such as skins, docks, and cables. That’s despite the fact that Razer has only just launched its new lineup of Blade 16 gaming laptop designs at the end of March 2024, to widespread acclaim, and it’s likely that the current tariff trade war between the US and China is at least partly responsible.
This isn’t a decision that Razer would take lightly, especially given the amount of work it’s put into its latest laptop designs. In our Razer Blade 16 2025 review, we gave the company’s latest mobile gaming machine a score of 9/10, thanks to its superb design and build quality, as well as its supremely powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU.
However, Razer’s laptops are largely made in China, and the latest US tariffs will make it expensive to import the machines into the US. The company hasn’t officially confirmed the reasoning for pulling its laptops from its US store, and we’ve reached out to Razer for comment, but we’d be very surprised if tariffs weren’t the major factor here.
While component shortages could also be a part of the problem, particularly when it comes to the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000 GPUs, there are still laptops listed on Razer’s other international stores. There might not always be stock, but the latest Razer Blade 16 and Blade 18 machines are still visible on the Laptops page of the UK Razer store, for example, with a “Notify me” button.
Compare that to the US Razer store, where they’ve disappeared from the page altogether. You can still find the landing page for the Blade 16 if you come to it directly, rather than browsing through the site, where there’s a “Notify me” button, but its removal from the main storefront makes it look as though Razer is trying not to draw attention to it.
The US and China are currently trading blows with tariffs on imports from each other, with the US recently placing a 104% tariff on most goods being imported from China, while China has just retaliated with an 84% tariff on US goods. Given that the Razer Blade 16’s starting price is already a hefty $2,999, the new cost after tariffs is likely to be unsustainable.
