My favorite Warhammer game is 50% off right now, but you’ll have to be quick

What’s the best Warhammer game you’ve ever played? There’s a lot of love for Space Marine 2 at the moment but, despite loving calling in a Dreadnought in Siege Mode, I think recency bias might be at play here. Do you remember whiling away the hours playing Dawn of War? The Soulstorm DLC in particular was my jam, but that whole first game was a masterpiece encased in ceramite armour. However, there might be one game that surpasses it. Owlcat Games’ Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader has so many opportunities for roleplay that it has every right to be called the best Warhammer game ever made. And if you haven’t played it, now is the perfect time.

As a part of the Isometric RPG sale on Steam, Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader is 50% off. With costs of, well, everything rising in 2025, this is a great chance to get one of the best RPGs in recent years for a fraction of its full price.

Most Warhammer games put you in the shoes of the Adeptus Astartes. This fulfils that classic gaming power fantasy that feels so good, but it doesn’t lend itself to roleplay. You’re the epitome of power, you enact the Emperor’s will, there is no room for nuance. You’re definitely not a good guy, but you can’t really be evil.

Rogue Trader flips this on its head. Want to play a perfect businessperson who abides by the Imperium’s myriad rules? Sure. You can do it. But you can also ascend to daemonhood, as long as you’re willing to deal with the consequences – your Xenos lover might not be best pleased, for instance.

With crunchy turn-based combat, space warfare, and a host of brilliant party members – seriously, you need at least three playthroughs just to meet them all properly, let alone start romances – this is easily the most underrated Warhammer game out there. Yes, I’ve played Chaos Gate. And Mechanicus.

Other highlights from Steam’s Isometric RPG sale include 75% off Disco Elysium, one of the best PC games ever made, 65% off Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and a whopping 85% off Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader is on sale for $24.99 / £21.49 until Monday August 18. You can buy it, alongside various other stellar RPGs right here.
