Krafton brands life simulator InZoi a ‘long-term franchise’ after it hits 1 million sales

Life simulator InZoi has topped 1 million sales within a week of launching onto Steam Early Access.

Krafton shared the news in a note to investors and said InZoi reached that milestone faster than any other title it has published.

Prior to its early access debut, InZoi was the most wishlisted title on Steam (according to the platform’s own global charts) and rose to the summit of the Steam Global Top Sellers List within 40 minutes of release.

Krafton claimed its “player-friendly operational strategy” helped establish trust with consumers and generate positivity prior to launch.

“We are grateful and excited to present InZoi to players around the world through Early Access,” said Krafton CEO CH KIm. “We will continue to actively communicate with players and foster InZoi as Krafton’s long-term franchise IP.”

Early access and collaboration key to Krafton’s plans with InZoi

Krafton is overseeing development of InZoi through its (appropriately named) subsidiary InZoi Studio. The development team said it launched the title into early access to bake collaboration into the bedrock of production.

“The life simulation genre presents a unique challenge: capturing the depth and complexity of life in a video game,” explained the studio on Steam.

“We view our development as not a sprint but more like a marathon, which requires time to build different features that will make InZoi feel increasingly lifelike. Prioritizing which features to develop first is critical, and we believe open communication with players is the best way to achieve this.”

Krafton is currently attempting to become more than just the ‘PUBG company’ by cultivating “big franchise IP.”

In its latest fiscal report, which saw the company deliver record annual revenue and operating profit, Krafton explained it intends to continue making “bold investments” into PUBG while being “aggressive” in its attempts to birth other huge franchises.

“While continuing to expand the PUBG IP, we will accelerate the discovery of a new franchise IP to further reinforce our competitive edge in the global gaming market,” said Kim.

“With our AI technology defining the future of gaming experiences, we aim to evolve beyond game development as a company that ultimately advances the global entertainment ecosystem.”
