It’s still early days for InZOI yet, but Krafton’s The Sims competitor is doing very well. Over a million players have bought the game with a peak of almost 90,000 concurrents on Valve’s platform, and Krafton itself has a lot of free DLC planned throughout the early-access period. Right now, however, the focus is on adjusting existing mechanics to better suit what players want. That’s why Zoi sleeping patterns, family relationships, and even the karma system have all been adjusted in the latest hotfix.
A few days after InZOI’s initial launch, Krafton promised that new updates for the life game would start coming faster. These hotfixes would be smaller than the regularly planned updates, but take aim at notable areas of concern and swiftly improve mechanics players aren’t happy with. The team wants to more openly communicate during the early-access period, and these smaller hotfixes are key to that.
Now, we finally have a new update brimming with changes to Zoi behavior, the karma mechanic, and a whole lot more. If you’ve found that exhausted Zoi’s have been sleeping too long, Krafton has changed this habit. “Sleep patterns were originally designed to reflect real-life behavior, such as sleeping in when tired. However, this level of realism caused friction with the game’s time flow. Sleep duration has now been reduced for smoother gameplay,” Krafton writes.
InZOI’s karma system has also been acting up, with autonomous actions occurring too fast and leading to mood swings, so Krafton has fixed it. “We’ve adjusted the pace [of karma] for more stable and predictable behavior. Further improvements are planned so Zois act more naturally based on context, and Karma will gradually influence more aspects of life. For now, try adjusting ‘Civic Consciousness’ and ‘Karma’ values in the City Edit menu for better control.”

Krafton is also aware that many players aren’t pleased with how quickly relationships were accelerating. To get around this, the developer has slowed the speed at which you get relationship points in a family that’s under your direct control. If you’d rather ramp it up again, however, you can change how the system works in the City Edit menu.
That’s not all for this InZOI hotfix, as Krafton improves some smaller issues as well. Zois will now immediately eat food after cooking, and problems around birth and pregnancy have been patched. My favorite change, however, is that the toilet sound effect has been altered, as beforehand it “was too long and felt unnatural.”
If you just can’t get enough of Krafton’s The Sims competitor, make sure you check out what’s coming with the InZOI roadmap. There are also plenty of InZOI cheats you’ll want to have in your back pocket when needed most.
