Hades meets Vampire Survivors in a beloved roguelike that just got even better

If you’re as big a fan of Hades, Vampire Survivors, and Diablo as I am, you need to try Death Must Die. This Steam Early Access marvel expertly blends the best of all three games into something entirely new, and ties it all together with some of the best pixel art I’ve ever seen. I’ve been keeping an eye on Death Must Die for some time now, and developer Realm Archive has just released its latest update alongside an avalanche of new content.

Death Must Die has quite the mix of inspirations. At a glance it plays like Vampire Survivors, as you cut a swath through endless hordes of Death’s minions, using a wide array of weapons, spells, and abilities to create varied builds and come out on top. It’s fast-paced and filled with enough variety to keep you coming back after every failed attempt.

The roguelike comparisons don’t end there, either. Death Must Die also presents you with a wide range of deities, akin to Hades’ own Greek pantheon. Each of these godlike beings is more colorful than the last, and offers you the choice of three powerups whenever you meet them. These new buffs can combine with other parts of your build or open up entirely new possibilities, as you upgrade your favorites and quickly head down a path you’ve never tried before. You even have a Diablo-inspired loot screen, with weapons, armor, rings, pendants, and even more gear playing a role in how your build takes shape.

Now, Realm Archive has made Death Must Die even better with a new update. Act 3 – The Darkmoor is filled with new ways to play, achievements to collect, and powerful builds to master. You can take on even more enemies and bosses across myriad locations, with extra tier three items and uniques that pack even more of a punch.

You can also take up arms as the new Druid hero, who can shapeshift into a range of animals. Whether you want to be a tanking bear or agile panther, there are plenty of new forms you can take (and upgrade) that’ll completely change how you play. There’s also a new god, Aegir of the Seas, for you to encounter and get new buffs and abilities from, if you want even more build potential. There’s also the new summon system for you to try, with your minions having their own AI behaviors and taunts to help you out in battle.

If you’re yet to try Death Must Die, it just got an awful lot bigger and better. The indie game already has a 91% positive Steam rating from over 19,000 reviews, too, so you know that everyone else who’s already tried the game is enjoying it. With five acts planned for Death Must Die’s early access, there’s plenty more where this came from, too.

Realm Archive has now launched Death Must Die Act 3, you can find the game on Steam right here.

We also have all the best games like Diablo and RPGs you can play today, if Death Must Die isn’t enough.
