Earlier this year, The Farm 51 put out Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone in Early Access. The game, which takes place in the irradiated Chornobyl region it’s named after, is similar to post-apocalyptic games like Fallout 4, Metro Exodus, and, most strikingly, Stalker 2. So far, it hasn’t been especially well received by players, holding a 59% overall user rating on Steam. While that tepid reception may improve as work progresses on the project, there’s still the first Chernobylite to check out, which has a much higher 82% user rating and is currently available with a massive discount.
Chernobylite is an FPS survival horror game set in an alternate version of Pripyat where the player, as a physicist who previously worked at the ill-fated regional power plant, searches for his long-disappeared fiancee in a landscape where other people, monsters, and the environment itself represent a constant mortal threat.
Though it’s quite similar to Stalker in setting and premise, Chernobylite distinguishes itself in a number of ways. It not only features unforgiving combat that rewards scavenging for scarce resources and carefully planning every battle, but also systems like a player-built base, used for shelter and to craft equipment, as well as the ability to put together a team of fellow explorers who can be given tasks to perform and items to carry.

Chernobylite: Complete Edition is available with an 80% discount that brings its price down to $5.99 USD / £4.75 from now until tomorrow, Tuesday June 10. Grab a copy on Steam right here.
