    Dispatch is the surprise smash hit narrative game of 2025. Adhoc Studios, with the help of Critical Role, Igloo Studio, and a satellite studio of other contributors, has crafted an amazing superhero story—winning praise from players and developers alike. 

    The story of its development is almost as thrilling as its superhero drama. The team was on track to build a successful game, but a last-minute investor drop out sent them scrambling for funds, with Critical Role swooping in to save the day.

    But that’s not all worth digging into. How do you tell great interactive stories in 2025? Why did this interactive tale click where others have stumbled? We’re excited today to chat with co-directors Nick Herman and Dennis Lenart about their process and see what developers can learn from their storytelling success.
