It’s a good time to come back to FF14 Dawntrail. However you felt about the campaign’s divisive story, the expansion brought some of the best combat encounters and most stunning zones the MMORPG has yet seen. Now, with the launch of FF14 patch 7.2, it feels like the community is once again starting to unite in favor of the new story threads, and battle content is shining in the second tier of the Arcadion raids. If you’ve fallen off since Dawntrail’s launch, or haven’t played for even longer, there’s now a chance to get seven days of free access without a subscription.
The Final Fantasy 14 callback campaign is a long-running initiative from Square Enix that invites lapsed players to return to its critically acclaimed MMORPG. It’s specifically for those who have already been subscribed in the past, but have had an inactive account for at least the past 90 days. All you have to do to bring them back into the fold as an active sub is select them from your in-game friend list or Free Company roster and click ‘Invite friend to return.’

As long as they meet the criteria, they’ll be sent an email that grants them seven days of free play, starting from the first day they log in. Returning players are also eligible for 99 Aetheryte Tickets to cover your fast travel costs, and ten Silver Chocobo Feathers that can be used at the Calamity Salvager NPC found in the three starting cities to claim some helpful gear for leveling.
Each character you have on your service account can send out a total of five returner invites (this allowance resets after a thirty-day period, so it’ll be refreshed next time the campaign comes back). If one of your friends then purchases a subscription within 90 days of returning, you’ll also be sent 5 Gold Chocobo Feathers to take to the Calamity Salvager. These can be used to purchase three different mounts, bundles of ten Aetheryte Tickets, or packs of five rare dyes.
If you’ve been on the fence about coming back, it’s a perfect opportunity to do so. Seven days should be plenty of time to see both the 7.1 and 7.2 main story, and to run the FF11 crossover alliance raid, Echoes of Vana’diel, and the Arcadion raids. These are an absolute delight, so you should absolutely take advantage of the ability to give them a try for nothing while you can. We’re also expecting the new Cosmic Exploration feature to arrive on Tuesday April 22, so you might be able to get a glimpse of that as well.
The FF14 callback campaign runs from Friday April 11 at 1am PT / 4am ET / 9am BST / 10am CEST to Friday May 9 at 1am PT / 4am ET / 9am BST / 10am CEST. Take a look through the official page courtesy of Square Enix for the full terms and conditions to see if you’re eligible. Note also that you will need to own Dawntrail on your account to take part in any of the new content from 7.0 onwards.
That’s not all that Square Enix is offering right now, however. A ‘Spring community support campaign’ encourages players to expand their Free Companies. You can earn in-game items by creating a public recruitment post for your FC on the official Community Finder, and those who create a Free Company can enter a draw for even more rewards. You can check the full post via the Lodestone for additional details.
