Skate tops 15 million players in under three weeks

Newsbrief: EA’s long-gestating Skate reboot has amassed over 15 million players since launching into early access on September 16, 2025.

The free-to-play title is being pitched by EA and developer Full Circle as an “ever-growing, ever-evolving skateboarding sandbox” that will expand over time. Players keen to spend can drop cash on premium cosmetics and ‘San Van Bucks,’ which can be used to upgrade to the Skate Pass’ Premium content track and nab items from the in-game store.

The project currently doesn’t have a concrete launch date, although Full Circle said the aim is to move towards a full release after around a year in early access. Skate is currently available on a variety of PC and console platforms.

Full Circle says the current version of the game contains features it considers to be the “essentials” of Skate. Skate currently has a “mixed” rating on Steam from over 33,000 user reviews, with players generally praising the gameplay but expressing frustration at a lack of support for Linux, which means Steam Deck isn’t currently supported.
