WWII was one of the deadliest human conflicts in history. The scale of the devastation is mind-boggling to consider. But these grave facts have not prevented generations of comedians, artists, and game developers from getting silly with it. Heroes of Valor is a more absurd take on the chaos of Battlefield: 1942. It’s a class-based team shooter in the spirit of Team Fortress 2. The game recently launched into early access and currently has a “very positive” rating on Steam.
Like Battlefield, Heroes of Valor offers multiple approaches to combat. You can fly in fighter planes, speed across the battlefield on motorbikes, and devastate foes with armored tanks. Furthermore, the game launched with three separate classes: a “soldier” with a bazooka, a stealthy backstabber, and a medic. The maps are sprawling with multiple points of attack. You can snipe enemies from a lighthouse, dogfight over french farmland, and brawl in the hillsides of a Pacific island. A game like this wouldn’t be complete without absurd cosmetics, like a raptor mask or hot-rod-flames weapon skin.

Developers Fancy Cat Interactive have already promised frequent updates. New vehicles, weapons, and a new map are set to arrive later this summer alongside a new engineer class. In time, it’s possible that Heroes of Valor will become one of the best multiplayer games to play with your friends. The game does currently have one bit of cosmetic DLC and the developers are planning to launch a “warbonds shop” in the future though they have promised that no “pay 2 win” shenanigans are afoot.
You can pick up Heroes of Valor on Steam for an early access launch discount price of $13.49.
