Acclaimed zombie game Dying Light 2 gets a huge update and Steam discount

Dying Light 2 is one of the most entertaining horror titles in recent years, even if it hasn’t reached the lofty heights of the original. Now, with a sequel dropping in 2025, developer Techland has rolled out a massive new update and slashed the price of the game on Steam.

Techland is working on sequel Dying Light: The Beast, but the developer hasn’t forgotten about Dying Light 2, and has just release a large update for this parkour-heavy zombie game.

Dying Light 2’s spring update gives the game’s roguelite Tower Mode a serious boost, adding in a grand total of 27 new weapons, just the thing to defend yourself from the living dead and their super-powered siblings. There are a host of new rewards too, plus UI tweaks to make it easier to spot and claim those rewards.

The update also gives co-op mode a major overhaul, so it’s now better at handling player synchronization and lag issues. The update also adds in Visual Mods, which makes it easier to change the textures of weapons and clothes. Bonus points go to the first person to turn Dying Light 2’s Villedor into a pastel nightmare.

It also squashes plenty of bugs, including “…the issue with Volatiles occasionally teleporting between ground and higher surfaces.” Lucio Fulci’s City of the Living Dead featured teleporting zombies, but it’s not something we’d want to encounter in-game.

If you already own Dying Light 2, that’s reason enough to dive back in. But if you don’t, now’s the time to buy because it’s an amazing 67% off on Steam, making it $19.79 / £18.14. The offer ends April 28th, so you might want to hurry.

Sequel Dying Light: The Beast arrives this year, and it puts you in the infected shoes of original protagonist Kyle Crane. But we’ll have to wait for Techland to share a more concrete release date than just 2025.
