MSI has teamed up with Sony to offer a seriously tempting hardware and software bundle. With The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered now available for PC gamers, you can soon play this widely-acclaimed game for free by upgrading to a stunning new MSI gaming monitor, including some of its latest QD-OLED panels.
With MSI’s current crop of OLED displays being among the best gaming monitors available, you’ll not only be getting a bonus extra with your purchase but a truly stunning visual upgrade. As we saw in our MSI MPG 271QRX review, the new Samsung QD-OLED panels MSI is using deliver incredible visuals, and lightning-fast gaming performance, with MSI offering some of the most competitively-priced options in its class.
All that said, this offer isn’t yet available but is in fact launching soon, so we don’t have a definitive list of the eligible displays. However, in its announcement of the deal, MSI pictures two of its latest models, the MSI MAG 272URX QD-OLED and MSI MAG 322URX QD-OLED.
These two models are undeniably expensive, with the MSI MAG 272URX QD-OLED costing $1,099.99 and the MSI MAG 322URX QD-OLED priced at $1,299.99, but for that money you are getting some seriously high-end specs. Moreover, there’s a chance MSI will announce some lower-priced options that are still eligible for the offer when it goes live.
Looking at the 272URX and 322URX in a little more detail, both displays have a 4K resolution for pin-sharp image quality, particularly on the smaller and more affordable 27-inch 272URX. Meanwhile, the inherent ability of OLED displays to deliver true black levels, with none of the graying backlight-bleed of LCDs, means these displays get you a claimed 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio.
These panels can also deliver dazzling colors, with 99% coverage of the DC-P3 color space, which is the very broad range of colors used by even the highest HDR color standards. With peak brightness in HDR of 1,000nits as well, you get truly incredible HDR performance, whether you’re playing HDR-supporting games or the latest HDR movies.
As for gaming performance, these panels both run at up to 240Hz and have an effectively instant response time of 0.03ms, which means there’s no visible ghosting even in very fast-paced games. The displays even include DisplayPort 2.1 80Gbps connections, so you can get full 4K at 240Hz without any display compression, if you have the best graphics card for the job. Two HDMI 2.1 ports also mean you can hook up the latest consoles and play at 120Hz. Plus, there’s a USB hub for convenient peripheral positioning.
Also included is Nvidia G-Sync and AMD Freesync support with variable refresh rate so you can get smooth tear-free and stutter-free gaming on effectively any modern graphics card or console. It all adds up to some seriously desirable gaming displays.
MSI hasn’t announced full details of how this offer works, but previous similar offers have required proof of purchase of the product from an eligible store, with MSI then providing a code that will allow you to download the game for free. MSI finishes its initial announcement of this offer with the words “Stay tuned — more details will be revealed in the coming weeks.”
