Mario Day is just around the corner, and while 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., Nintendo is keeping any major celebrations under wraps—for now. However, one exciting event has been revealed: the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Community Challenge.
One Million Laps in 10 Days – Can We Do It?
Nintendo is calling on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe players to complete one million laps over ten days, starting at 3 AM EST on March 7, 2025. To participate, players must join a special tournament created specifically for this challenge.
How to Join the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Community Challenge
- Enter the Tournament Code – Head to the Tournaments tab in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and enter 1152-2501-4827.
- Race Online – Compete against other players in online races. Only laps completed in this tournament will count toward the goal.
- Nintendo Switch Online Required – You’ll need an active Nintendo Switch Online (NSO) subscription to participate.
💡 Don’t have NSO? Nintendo is offering a 14-day free trial, available until March 17, 2025, so all Mario Kart 8 Deluxe owners can join in the fun.
What’s the Reward?
If players collectively reach the one million lap goal, everyone who participates will receive 310 Platinum Points—a nod to Mario Day, which falls on March 10 (3/10).
How to Use Platinum Points
Platinum Points can be redeemed for a variety of Nintendo rewards, including physical collectibles. To mark the occasion, Nintendo has added two new items to its My Nintendo rewards catalog:
- A transparent Super Mario bag
- A Mario Kart 8 Deluxe license holder lanyard
